Time for the 50 year check-up.

My wife had a rough summer as far as her health. She had two surgeries but is now healthy once more. Since her deductible was used up, it was suggested that she have a colonoscopy. So yesterday morning I took her to General Hospital and Dr. Loncar performed the procedure. It took around 1/2 hour and Robin was in recovery for around an hour. They gave Robin enough medication that she does not remember any of it. Robin was given a clean bill of health and we left the Hospital around an hour after the procedure. She had no pain, but was pretty loopy the rest of the day. We came home and watched a couple of movies, Nacho Libre (funny, corny I'll give it a 2 out of 4) and the De Vinci Code (which I will give a 3 out of 4.) Robin had a friend who had the procedure done and she wanted the doctor to verify in writing for her husband that her head was not stuck up her ass as her husband was claiming. If you are 50, you should consider having this done, as colon cancer is one of the slower moving cancers. This is something that should be available to all people regardless of the finances. We need universal health care for all.

No question about it's not just a good idea, it can be a life saver. I lost a cousin to colon cancer a few of years ago. I finally was convinced to have a colonoscopy...3 polyps later with no recollection of anything I too encourage all aging boomers to submit to this painless and potentially life saving procedure.

Your so right Richard, universal health care should be a reality in the U.S.A.

Colon Cancer is not that slow moving and it is one of the most painful of cancers...think about it- what do you do everyday that wouldn't be too comfy if you had an owey down there?

And is this your way of snarking that Robin is a few months older than you Richard? Hit him again Robin!!

Health insurance and health care in this country is a scam, a rip-off, and the system needs to be completely overhauled. Any suggestions out there? Any comments from any of you rich insurance agents?

I'm getting to the age where I have to start thinking about these things. Have to start with my eyes.

Carol Ann: Yes, we discussed my post before I did it. She was willing to help get the word out because we have a neighbor who has been friends for years just have surgery this last month for colon cancer. Robin does not have to be checked on now for 5 to 10 years. She was upset about insurances not paying for the procedure until recently. Was not that long you could not get a Mamogram was not covered too. I belive that all should have access to health care. Wasn't it FDR (Now there was a Liberal!)who almost initiated socialized medicine with social security? Sure need it now.
