Out all day. NO backup. No alternatives. It is amazing how much we have come to depend on this internet thing.
Must have been a Backhoe Induced Outage somewhere north of Eureka. We had no problem.
My favorite Gregg Foster quote for a story I did a while back was "We are one yahoo on a backhoe away" from disrupting the single fiber-optic cable. The first time a backhoe severed it a year or so back, I laughed thinking back on his statement. The second time was less funny now that I have Suddenlink and rely on broadband at home for work-related stuff.
Personally I favor stiffer penalties for disrupting internet service - how's the death penalty sound? :)
Kidding. Sort of.
