Political signs are popping up in Eureka and Arcata for their respective city council races. I see Polly and Frank have the early lead in Eureka, but I fully expect to see a wave of signs for Linda and George in the near future. Both Frank and Polly have very visible signs. The Clark/Adkin's signs are kind of blah but consistent with their theme. (Two candidates in one.)
Micheal Winkler has started a push, but I fully expect Shane Brinton to blanket Arcata. Susan Ornelas has started also. Machi? Jason A. Grow? Geronimo Garcia? Not yet.
Any scouts out there for Fortuna, Blue Lake and Trinidad?

Someone stole my "No on Prop 8" sign, but Shane's sign next to it only received minor collateral damage. I'm kind of used to this happening every year, so I'm not all riled up, but I wonder if anyone ever gets busted for this, and what would they be charged with?
All's fair in love and (sign) war(s), I guess.
Which ones have union bugs?
who cares which ones have the union bugs, other than Richard?
What if they were made by a small business owner with no employees? Are you gonna bag on those signs because they don't have the farkin bug?
Don't know about Atkins/ Clark signs, but I suspect there's a lot more people that would have Jager and Endert signs in their yards than there already are. I thought I was on both Jager and Endert's list but no one put one in my yard until late.
I think it was last Sunday I saw a guy come by the house across the street and put two Jager signs on the lawn. I expected him to come by my house next but he never did. I told myself I'd wait until Wednesday to see if someone would show up with a sign. They never did so finally I went across the street and took the small Jager sign and put it in my yard. No problem, that's my in- laws house across the street and they didn't care.
I'd told Polly Endert's stepmother they could put a sign in my yard. No one ever did. After I saw the Endert signs all over the place, I gave it some time, then e-mailed her mother asking if there was someplace I could go to pick one up. She told me to hang on a little longer.
I think it was that day or the next that Polly Endert's husband came by and put a sign in my yard.
Already censoring comments critical of your candidates, Richard? Tsk, tsk.
Fred, the campaigns are avoiding your front yard for obvious reasons. Please take down Frank's sign, you are not authorized to have it in your yard.
The City of Fortuna has an ordinance that prohibits political signs, including yard signs, from being displayed within the city limits more that 30 days before an election. The same ordinance requires the signs to come down within 10 days after an election. Local candidates adhere to the rules but I see presidential candidate signs appearing here and there.
10:55am-Have not censored any yet. Who are my candidates? I have not personally endorsed anyone in Eureka.
Has anyone asked for Richard Marks endorsement?
12:23pm-yes
I hear Richard Marks has drunk the Measure T koolaid and consequently is supporting Kaitlin, even though her opponent is the only Democrat in the race.
Funny, didn't Richard get that same treatment when he was the only Democrat in the race for Supervisor? Now that he's on the Dem Central Committee, Richard Marks turns around and demonstrates how he has learned absolutely nothing from his experience.
I expected more from you Richard, and I voted for you last time around. I won't make that mistake again if you think propping up the Green meanies is more important than promoting progressive Democrats in our local government!
12:49PM- I did not run against a Democrat. I ran against a Republican. I am a lifelong Democrat who has served on the HCDCC during different times the last two decades. Katlain's opponent pretty much admitted that he only changed his affiliation to Democrat for political purposes and will not promise that he will not change back to a Green.
Apples and Oranges.
We do have a certain criteria or threshold we try to uphold when endorsing candidates. Not every Democratic candidate that walks through our door receives an endorsement. We try to back the best qualified and many times people just don't meet the standard as seen through each current HCDCC members eyes. Yes, I was once one of those candidates that came up short.
Instead of doing nothing like you are doing just taking "pot-shots" at me anonymously, I became pro-active and joined the committee.
As far as the Kool Aid statement, I can't remember the last time I had any.
Are the Clark-Atkins cyborg for council signs still in one of George's manufacturing incubators? Maybe they need a little more time to hatch.
I'd like a no on 8 sign. Anywhere local I can find one?
The idea that anyone registers with any political party for anything besides "political purposes" is an oxymoron, Richard.
And no, you haven't learned from your own experience.
And no, Kaitlin is not a Democrat. Just ask the Green Party of CA, she's on their list of "green" candidates.
Eric wrote, "I'd like a no on 8 sign.".
Don't know of anyone distributing signs in Sohum. I know of two locations in Eureka, though.
You should of been paying attention, Eric. I believe I posted in your blog's comments that if anyone from Sohum wanted some No On 8 signs I could bring some to the Blogger's Picnic. Didn't get any replies.
Redwood ACLU is distributing No on 8 and No on 6 signs out of their office at 917 3rd st.
Pay attention to 6, its by far the worst measure on the ballot, total violation of due process.
The Orange County Register seems to agree with you that Prop 6 is the worst. They ran an editorial against it yesterday:

Well I'd say it's a toss up between 6 and 8.Both are horrid imho.I'd like to hear from Chris Crawford exactly what Justice Served' take on this one is.
Still waiting for an answer from Richard on how any person registers for a political party for a "non-political" purpose.
Face it Richard, that was a statement worthy of Palin.
BURN!
