I noticed the Cookhouse was also having ham on the menu. How do you all feel? Is it wrong to have turkey? Or prime rib? (Or Tofu for you vegans.)

We had a baked chicken. Next Sunday we will have ham because my son is on leave from Iraq. Then we'll have ham. But to answer your question, why ham? I think because after Thanksgiving and Christmas everyone is pretty burned out on turkey.....
Xmas is a rip-off of pagan rituals in its entirety, and Easter has lots of pagan and commercial borrowings (easter bunnies, easter cards, colored eggs, chocolate, ham, dinner with the folks etc). We can assume that the Easter Mass was, at least, a Christian original.
We had lamb and lots of cabernet franc. No Mass, thank God.
I thought Easter was all about chocolate bunnies and colored eggs. Now you're telling me it's a religious holiday. I'm agnostic, so I really couldn't care less what anybody eats on Easter. Even if I was religious, I wouldn't care. Let people eat what they want.
Did Jesus eat pork?
He was Jewish, so we can be certain he did not eat ham as a child. But after he began his ministry, did the eating of pork become acceptable?
Many questions arise, but I will leave them unstated for the meantime.

Maybe their God called it an abomination beacause the pigs had trichinosis. Maybe God also planned for us to evolve from Apes.
Their God didn't say anything. All the holy books were written by man, not God. Perhaps the person or persons that wrote the holy books knew that eating pork was unhealthy and said it was an abomination in order to keep people from eating pork and getting sick. You would have to be an idiot to believe everything you read, especially if it was written by a religious fanatic.
