Union endorses Schwarzenegger for governor

I belong to the Association of Western Pulp and Paper Worker's (AWPPW) union. We are an affiliate of the United Brotherhood of Carpenter's (UBC) union. Check out this article. Union endorses Schwarzenegger for governor The San Diego Union-Tribune In other words, some of our dues go to the UBC. So indirectly, I am sending money and endorsement to Arnold. The same guy fighting prevailing wage. http://sbctc.org/pdf/arnold%20pw.pdf Yes the same Arnold cutting back on worker's compensation. California Building Trades Council - legislation & politics - schwarzenegger's workers' comp slashes disability payments Just take me out back and shoot me already. Is all hope is lost on this election for Governor? Oh well, they sent money to local Republican Bonnie Neely also. What can I say. Are the Democrats just losing that much ground? Are they losing some of their identity?

Schwartzenegger has a lot of Democrats snowed that he's "learned his lesson" from last year and moderated. Hollywood libs are supporting him as well. Next year, when he returns to his anti-union ways, everybody will be "shocked." Don't know why people fall for this.

Just way too much for me to handle irony wise! What, the teachers next?

No, the teachers and nurses aren't forgetting last year. The nurses just kicked in a chunk of money to defeat him.

What I did note about the teachers' unions however, is that they oppose prop 89 (both CTA and AFT), while the nurses support it. I'd like to know what's behind that.

Eric: That is a good question. I do not know why. All I know is I am now helping the Arnold machine!

Ah Richard,
We need to start a Wobblies for Arnold committee!!That'll get us some attention. What a joke.Any union that would give him an endorsement isn't a true union.Sorry to say it Richard, but it's the truth.

CTA does politics the old way. It's a big-money union. They are also supporting a Republican against Debra Bowen for Secretary of State.

The Nurses are more grassrootsy. And a hell of a lot more progressive. That's why they wrote 89 and are supporting it, along with Global Exchange, Common Cause, Code Pink, and a bunch of other really progressive groups.

That's the short answer.

Vote yes on 89.

I don't blame you for supporting Arnold now-me too and the reason? We should have elected Steve Westly in the primary.

The backwards walking ads against Angelides are effective-and they are true. Democrats need to think more about putting people into play that aren't easy targets/people who can hold up under pressure. When they wake up to that fact things will change. Not until then.

anon 840 - what is it about Angelides that you don't like? Precisely?

I am not supporting Arnold becuase I want to! My union dues are helping him! If you went around to the rank and file members, this would not happen! Phil attacking Steve Westley started this whole problem with Angelides. Then Westley had to attack back and they gave the Republicans all the full they needed for this election. So there you go. Arnold in a landslide and more of the same for the next 4 years. Just great.

With Arnold ducking the debates, and the media not calling him on it, it's a forgone conclusion.

eric- I don't like Angelides mainly because he isn't Steve Westly!! Schwazeneggar going centrist is much more to my liking and no I don't want to raise taxes. The state needs to bring spending under control-which is painful for a time. I'm voting for Arnold because after all the dust settled I see he will do a better job than Angelides (a very unlikeable guy).

"Schwarzeneggar"

and no I don't want to raise taxes.f

You do realize that Angelides' tax proposal would only affect like the top 3 percent level of income?
