Wes Chesbro for First District Assembly seat if.......

Expanding term limits are voted down. Patty Berg will be garnering Wesley's endorsement if she is able to run another term.

Wes and I had a meeting to air my grievances and outline my hopes for working class in the Northern California District. I was a precinct captain on the Peninsula for Chesbro when Wes ran fro his Senate seat, and my campaign donated to his campaign back in 1998. Hey, I was at his spaghetti feed as late as last year.

So there you have it. I am not challenging Wes for the Assembly seat.

Maybe I will join Jake Pickering in running for Thompson's seat in Congress. (I won't kill the polar bears.)

Word is a very, very big name from outside the world of politics is going to run against Thompson next time. High name recog and lots of money with no negatives. Stay tuned.

Yeah,I have a feeling that Thompson's days of coasting to a win may be over.Good thing.I heard a rumor a well, wonder if it's who Jim is talking about.

You mean to tell me that I have to remove Congressman Thompson from the list that includes Death and Taxes?

In other words Wes asked Richard
"How much do you care about your family?" and "Do you enjoy working at the pulp mill?"

Richard got the hint.

samoasoftball said...

3:59pm-He may have asked those questions, but not in that context. Or maybe I am too dumb to have noticed. I missed the hint.

Seriously, we had a good talk of the needs of working class, and the direction he wants to lead and what needs to happen to help him lead the district.

Labor is a big part of the equation. Wes will most likely garner the endorsement of most unions. He will be the next First District Assembly Person.

Glad you had a pow wow....

Now, maybe move in different areas...

An area of your thought and not others...

An area of not who you see, of what you do....

Richard, Richard, Richard

You got Cheese-bro'd right your #*%! He'll gouge it up the rest of us just as soon as he is able. Remember soft ball you do labor for your dollar. The big Cheese gets $117k for pre election photo op's. Socialism alive and well in America and you will support this anti-freedom bull-s%#*?

10:29pm,run against Wes then if you disagree with his actions.

And Patty is raising funds to possibly run for Insurance Commissioner when/if she gets termed out. That will be interesting if it comes to pass. It will take millions and a statewide organization to accomplish. I can't remember the last time there was a serious contender for statewide from up here on the northcoast.

I don't care who with lots of money plans to run against Mike Thompson, because Mike will be hard to beat.

J D Ferguson said...

It's not the money that's important, it's the name recognition. There's no one in the country who hasn't heard of this man or doesn't think highly of him.

If this mystery candidate is so well respected, then there's no way he'll be hiring Jim Ferguson to catch his dog much less run his campaign! No self-respecting lefties would work with the man who ran that dirty ass campaign for arch-conservative Mayor Bass.

Anonymous said...

virginia bass? ick. how many corpses have piled up from the eureka cops since she took office?

Carol said...

Unless this mysterious wealthy person is Schwarzenegger, than I have my doubts.

LOL

I work for the "best" candidate period. Political party, Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, has nothing to do with my choice of whom I support. Unfortunately, anyone who diviates from the "group think" is vilified. Oh, well.

"There's no one in the country who hasn't heard of this man or doesn't think highly of him."

Carol, how did you manage to get Arnold out of that description? Please let Arnold reside down south.Ok Jim,from the rumor I heard, the individual is left of Thompson, ditto for you?

samoasoftball said...

Carol has a good point. This person better have at least $500,000 to invest in a viable campaign against Mike. And in his district, he better be as blue as they come.

J D Ferguson said...

While I know money is the life blood of politics - this candidate could easily raise and spend millions if necessary - in such a diverse and elongated district, name recognition is as important, of not more IMHO. And if the people of California can keep electing actors to political office, party affiliation is sometimes not important at all.

samoasoftball said...

C'mon JD! Quit playing coy. Who is he? I can'r imagine anyone in this district that has that much pull. Virginia Strom Martin is the only one I think who could put up a real fight. Bosco? Hamburg? Hauser? They are all outside politics now.

David Cobb! Is that it?

J D Ferguson said...

This is a man who has never been in politics, an outsider, not one of the local revolving doors. My advice to someone seeking state Assembly or Senate has been you will need to be able to raise $500,000 to run a credible campaign. Where I disagree with you Richard is with Thompson's strength and time in office, I wouldn't bother with a candidate who couldn't raise at least $1.5 million. A half just wouldn't cut it even with a lot of volunteers. As we both found during Virginia's campaign, volunteers can only get you so far against an incumbent. BTW - We couldn't have done it without you, hope the crap you've taken since then has not been too bad.

Carol said...

I'm LOL, too.

MrEsquan, I'm joking about Schwarzenegger, though he'll probably run against Boxer for Senate, in which case, I will support Boxer.

JD, were you around during the Frank Riggs years?

No, depspite the tilting of windmills being done by Thompson's detractors, I believe Mike Thompson is a solid US Congressman and will easily get re-elected. I guess we won't see you at Mike's next event, JD?

Anonymous said...

Out with all the incumbents!

Carol said...

Now that is just plain silly, anon 9:39.

Anonymous said...

Think Thompson will be hard to beat. Certainly going to take a lot of money and name recognition to try. Thompson has raised a few million when he has run before. $500,000 possibly just covers his postage and phone calls for his pasta feeds.

J D Ferguson said...

Carol - I've been up here nearly 20 years now. The Riggs years were really a sad time.

Anonymous said...

Why is that silly Carol? The incumbents have run the state and the country into the ground. The corporations have bought and paid for all of the incumbents at the state and federal levels. How could new people do any worse than what we have now? I will not vote for any incumbents.

Carol said...

You must be a republican, otherwise you would be happy that all those seats you mentioned are filled with democrats. Run the state into the ground? Not our local representatives. Now this war in Iraq, outsourcing jobs, and shifty corruption has run this country well into the ground fiscally.

Anonymous said...

Republican!!!!! You insult me. Let me repeat...all Democrats and Republicans at the state and federal levels are bought and paid for by special interest groups and large multi national corporations. They don't give a squat about blue collar working folks. I belong to no political party. I am registed as an unaffiliated voter.

and carol you run around with a snot rag wipe'n up there slime and excusing there fleecing of the public

Anonymous said...

their,their,their/gogd,good,good

Carol said...

No, I don't run around wiping up anyone's slime -

So sorry if I insulted you by calling you a republican. Not all democrats and republicans are bad. You paint your picture with such a broad stroke by calling all of them slime. There are lots of honest and non-corrupted public servants out there. Eventually, the corrupt ones are exposed and weeded-out.

Anonymous said...

Carol, now you misquote me. I did not call anyone slime. By the way, you are living in a fantasy world.

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:16 and Anon 7:18 are not the same people. I am anon 5:16, but from now on I'll call myself unaffiliated.

Carol said...

Then my apology goes to you, unaffilated. I thought you were all the same anonymouses.

samoasoftball said...

Lots of money, High profile, popular living in the district. HMMMMM....Joe Montana! Sweet! Won't get my vote over Thompson. Try again.

"Lots of money, High profile, popular living in the district. HMMMMM"

Got It!! It's Eric Kirk!!

Anonymous said...

It's Rob Arkley. Everyone knows how popular he is!!! Just ask Larry Glass.

Shane Brinton said...

Jim, if you're going to be managing Joe Montana's campaign, can you please get me his autograph?

Richard, you're going to run against Mike Thompson and Jake Pickering? Have fun coming in third.
