Best Softball Home Run Hitters.

I have played a few thousand softball games all over the west coast. For over thirty years I have averaged nearly 100 games a year. So I have seen my share of boppers. Here are some of the best I have seen through the years. Please add your picks. In the 70's Steve Kosak, Steve Hart and John Listor from Tiny Tot's and Mike Jett and Barry Scarpellino of Mazzoti's were a monopoly on the long ball. In the 80's Bob Mcrea, Bob Sprague and Big Daddy Dave Frost. In the 90's I would say Rick Webster, Jeff Frizzell, Jason Makie, Barry Oliver, Pat Anderson, Garrett Anderson and Rodney Dickerson. For the 2000's so far, Scott Eskra, Dan Nord, John McGinnis, Matt Jones, Jeremy Buck and Joey Scarpillino. I know I have passed over some, who might I missed? My pick as the most feared long baller? I will go with Bob McCrea.

I would have to agree with you on Bob McCrea. Most consistent H.R. hitter I have ever seen. For pure WOW factor though I would go with Rodney Dickerson. Some of his home runs were hit almost as high as they were deep, unbelievable! One name from the 2000's I think you have to include would be Jeremy Rasmussen. That's all I can think of for now Rich I'm still reeling from our beating tonight.

It's too bad some of your don't remember back in early 70's before the fences in Arcata league, Bob Carper when I first saw him play he was already 50. Big belly, hit from the left side of the plate and boy could he hit them! I heard 20 years before that when he played in the fast pitch leagues he was something to watch. He died a young man early 50's.Might be related to the Carpers from Fieldbrook. Bodie Smith could sure hit home-runs too, was a big pain in the butt to play against.
Look out for Rhodes this weekend...I hear he is lifting weights! Beer League Tourney...Got to Love it! Carlos

Carlos: How about Rob Arneson for the Liqour Still and Mike Powers! Bodie was a monster! And Jeff Powers of course. Carper played for awhile on Tiny Tots too? I could be wrong. Dave Rhodes had a great hitting weekend. The rest let him down. I only made four outs (On base 9-13 6 for 10 with 3 walks) and Dave did better! But the important thing is we had fun! Man, I am sporting some nasty scars from sliding in Willow Creek tough! (Blood and guts left on the field)

WIthout a doubt, on the east coast, it is Rob Daly. He hit one out in left center once that left the field (300 feet), cleared the fence (12 feet), and cleared the parking lot behind the field (about 125 feet). He currently has a streak of homering in 97 consecutive games. Amazing.

How about Harvy Harris of the old Reco's team or about half the Kaholii brothers?

Anyone remember Mark Sprague. He was Bob Sprague's brother.
