Fairhaven Tsunami "Mountain" construction meeting tomorrow night 6pm at Fairhaven.
Samoa fire officials to discuss tsunami evacuation site at Fairhaven July 17th at 6pm. I am on the Board of Directors for the Samoa Peninsula Fire District, so I will be there to hear public comment. Should be interesting. The first project of it's kind in the United States.
Typical of the Sand Dwellers. You all think a giant Sand Castle will protect you? Ha! Ever stayed sober long enough to see what happens when your children build sand castles next to the waves? They wash away!
Maybe you all could make a giant pile of old and abandoned cars. There seems to be plenty of those right in your front yards!
I was thinking the best place to go to get away from the tsunami out there would be the remnants of that old mill directly across the bay from the Del Norte Street dock. That big cement shell of the mill should be high enough to protect you, assuming there's stairs to get to the top. Biggest problem is location and everybody trying to get there in a panic.
We just got some tsunami zone signs in Loleta on the low lands yesterday. We will take picures and write a blog post.
Ferndale bottoms have had theirs in place for several months. Funny thing is, you leave the Tsunami zone on the actual bridge of Fernbridge. It is a grand old sturdy bridge, but I think I would get off the bridge and head up the hill if the tsunami starts rolling up the Eel River.
