Apparently so. Local peace activists tried to address this issue during Mike' recent visit, and he would not answer questions directly. He implied that he would support measures to impeach, but would not take a lead role in introducing legislation. Too busy shooting polar bears I guess.
Is he listening to his constituents? I don't think he cares. Now analyse Mike's inactivity. He does not want to piss off his fellow Congressmen and cause any repercussions that might affect or jeopardize legislation he might be a part of. Tit for tat and whatever it takes to hold his position power wise. And he'll get back to what the voters want when he needs to get re-elected. Politics as usual.
Mike can get confrontational and surly at times. I am not the only Democrat that feels this way. Too bad he could not be replaced in office by his field rep Liz Murgia. She is easy to talk to and approachable. And we have not always agreed on positions.
Just saying what I feel. Probably going to upset some folk. Again.

He’s literally suppressing news, and is apparently now admitting it.

Get to know Liz better. You may feel differently then. She, too, can be prickly.
As LBJ used to say, "We're all just people. People, people, people."
Mike gets angry at anybody that challenges him. He talks down to people just because they have a different opinion. He can be very rude sometimes.
If he is really willing to follow, but not take the lead, he could sign on to Kucinich's legislation to impeach Cheney.
Mike is good on some issues, but he's certainly not a progressive or a populist or anything resembling it. Let's keep pushing him.
Pelosi. Pelosi. Pelosi. Mike's committee chairmanship, his clout in congress, all changed when the Democrats took over in January and Nancy Pelose became Speaker. She is the key to impeachment. Her point, and Mike's, is that impeachment proceedings would not change much fast enough to matter when there is an election so close. He was for impeachment a couple of years ago, but the Republicans were in power.
Remember, he is a creature of the (corporate funded) system. All in all, I give him maybe 90%. Keep pushing him, but as a supporter. We don't want another Republican in the first congressional seat.
I wonder if we could annul this presidency, based on the 2000 election? An annulment - great idea, like it never happened! Bush would lose his presidential immunity. We could put him and Cheney on trial and send 'em up the river.
Translating Shane: Mike Thompson is a surly, snobby reactionary, but if we pray hard enough he will suddenly change.
Get a clue kid.
Greg: Fair thinking. Can't argue, but Mike needs to be more "public friendly."
"He was for impeachment a couple of years ago, but the Republicans were in power."
How convenient.
Mike is totally honest and doesn't POSE as a progressive just to placate the current HCDCC.We're lucky to have him.
and might we add, Mike has excellent support from HCDCC.
Yeah, so get off of Mike!
Prayer doesn't have anything to do with it, and any change that might happen will not be sudden. Grassroots pressure is what matters. Mike tends to lean to the left among the Blue Dogs. I would guess that much of the reason for that is public opinion in this district.
Mike does have good support of the HCDCC. But! That does not mean he is not accountable for his position of ignoring the Impeachment issue! He admitted to be willing to follow someone elses lead. Why doesn't he want to stick his neck out?
All this talk about prgressives. What kind of progress are you talking about? All I have ever seen from progressives is a bunch of coombiah singing do nothings.
Mike Thompson is a Republican running as a Democrat. If the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee supports Mike Thompson's reactionary policies why should we be surprised? The HCDCC supported a Republican against Democrat Richard Marks in the Board of Supervisors race last year. It's time for an overthrow of the old ineffective crew of cronies, in exchange for new faces with new ideas. Thompson and his supporters on the HCDCC are "fighting the last war" against the GOP and have totally missed the fact that the political landscape in America has changed radically in the past 2 years in favor of progressive politics. To support a right-winger like Mike Thompson in a Congressional District as left-leaning as this one is a betrayal that can't be explained away. Unless you realize the simple fact that incognito Republicans have been infiltrating the Democratic Party for a very long time. Mike Thompson is a Republican operative and always has been. And, no Greg Conners of the HCDCC, Mike Thompson NEVER supported impeachment. Greg, you are liar. The HCDCC would be better off without you. Go back to the Republican Party where you belong.
P.S. - Greg Conners is an admitted "former" Republican who voted for George Bush, Senior.
