12 hour shifts are becoming quite common in the private sector. I work three 12 hour shifts per week. No complaint here. I need the overtime to survive. It's just the way the world works. But, many many salaried workers don't receive one iota of compensation and still work long hours.

When do you have time to run for political office?

I am happy you guys are meeting, maybe a little direction is in order, then again maybe not...

Bummer Richard, because your Warriors are on Suddenlink channel #67 (FSN+) at 7:30 p.m. Hope the meeting's short.

Is the HCDCC going to get serious about impeaching Bush and Cheney, or is this just for show? According to the polls, impeachment is now the majority position in this country. Will the people get what they want from these Democrats on the HCDCC, or will the HCDCC finally get some new people? I hear it only takes 20 signatures to get on the ballot for HCDCC in the June 2008 election. I hope some good people will be running.

Richard, it says 'Democrats' meet tomorrow, not Dirty Commies!

11:43, HCDCC came out firmly for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney in 2006. HCDCC was the first central committee in the nation to endorse anti-war presidential candidate Howard Dean as Chair of DNC - a move that turned out to be important to November's elections. If you knew what you were talking about, you would be dangerous. At this point, it's just too bad people may believe your spin. HCDCC meets tonight. Show up -- and wear a name tag.

oh yeah - it was MARCH of '06. "Got serious?" now?

Greg please let us know if anyone showed wearing the nametag "2:37" probably not huh?

Stu: Got home in time to see the last of the game. Thanks for the heads up on the station. The Warriors look lethargic. Uninspired. The free throws are killing them! Baron Davis has been great though.

Hey, I was nominated with a second to be a voting member of the HCDCC Representing the 4th District at the general meeting. It will come up for a vote after the next meeting. Wish me luck!

Robin is going to be an Associate Member and is going to get active with the HCDCC also.

There will be an impromptu protest of the escalation of troops being sent to Iraq at noon 1/11/06 at the Humboldt County Courthouse. Bring your favorite anti war banner!

It was good to see you and Robin tonight! That makes me happy that you are both joining. We'll be at the rally tomorrow.

Just out of curiousity, what are the qualifications for being on the Democratic Central Committee? Is there a dues requirement, or do you just have to be registered to vote as a Democrat?

Any registered democrat can become an associate member and the dues are $15/ year. Voting members are either elected from their district or are nominated then voted on by the Committee if there is a vacancy. The voting member's dues are $30/ year. The sub-committees are chaired by voting members of the HCDCC. Any democrat is welcome to take part in the in these sub-committees.

Congratulations Richard, hopefully you can train the Democrats not to turn their backs on their own next time

Thanks for the heads up. Not unlike the Libertarian Party, except LP dues are higher, at $50 a year, for the state party anyway.

We used to be able to get elected to the Central Committee by getting on the ballot during the primary election; You had to get 20 signatures from registered Libertarians to get your name on the ballot for that.

We did that up here a few times, something I got started. Just recently, the State Chair petitioned the Sec of State to remove that option for the Libertarian Party so we can't do that anymore.

While I'm annoyed a bit at his skullduggery, it's probably just as well. I got a bit tired of having to gather all the signatures for everyone.

8:55am-Connie Stewart introduced a mechanism to the HCDCC last night to help thwart that issue from happening again. If candidates are serious about running for office, there is a comprehensive application form that will help the candidate and their committees understand their roles and expectations in the election process. If every candidate went through the total process, it would eliminate the "fringe" candidates. It looks like a valuable tool for the future.

Let me tell you this: It is a reality check for potential candidates. You go through this process to the end, the election will be a cake walk, because you have eliminated obstacles.
