FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
Eureka, CA –
4th District
Supervisor and lifelong Eureka resident Virginia Bass is announcing her campaign
for re-election this Friday February 7th at 12:00pm in
front of the Humboldt County Courthouse, in Eureka.
Since taking
office, Virginia has worked hard and accomplished many things for the citizens
of the 4th District and
Humboldt County. Bass mentioned a couple specific highlights she
is especially proud of, “The working relationship between the County of
Humboldt, the City of Eureka and the Harbor District has vastly improved.
Through my efforts as well as those of fellow elected and staff members in all
three entities, we have made great progress in our collaborative efforts leading
to improvements in the areas of Economic Development, Resource Protection and
Public Safety. Additionally, we took the necessary steps to provide our County
with a planning and building department that is truly in touch with the needs of
our community.”
Supervisor Bass
is pleased to have the support of the following Officials:
"Virginia is
experienced and committed as a Supervisor to the people and community of
Humboldt County. I especially appreciate the energy, professionalism and
inclusiveness she brings to her work, and I value her as a resource and a key
partner in my work representing the North Coast." Jared Huffman U.S. Congress,
2nd District.
“Virginia's
dedication and commitment to the county of Humboldt is unsurpassed. Please join
me in supporting her for re-election in 2014.” Rex Bohn, 1st District
Supervisor of Humboldt County.
“It is both a
pleasure and an honor to work with Virginia on a daily basis. Her open
mindedness and willingness to move Humboldt County in a positive direction has
played a critical part of many important accomplishments.” Ryan Sundberg,
5th District
Supervisor of Humboldt County.
While I am proud
of what has been accomplished, I am aware that there is still much to be done
and I am not only confident but look forward to continue to work towards making
Humboldt County an even better place for us all.” Bass said.
Please join your
friends, neighbors and community leaders in front of the Humboldt County
Courthouse in Eureka to support Virginia this Friday, February
7th at 12:00pm.
Rain or shine.

Nothing ever changes, does it?
Richard, will you be involved in the campaign? i.e. are you an unbiased observer? You were part of the campaign in 2010, so I suspect you might again. Even with her ultra-conservative land use policies.
I know you think no one cares about the GPU, but you know who does? Realtors...growers...etc. They are busy invalidating how many elections was it now.
And Supervisor Bass is an integral part of this. Are you ok with this? Do you feel her land use policies have been progressive?
I'll answer my own question for you."
"Of course Jon, she is a great candidate and although we might not agree on everything, she is a friend and a Democrat and Democrats need to stick together."
Close?
The reason I could answer that is I watched Virginia's kickoff video and I saw you make a few cameos. You are always a ham for cameras. :)
I think it's important that you disclose that you are a non-neutral supporter when you post these. At least once, prominently, so we all know where you are coming from. That's my opinion and it's your blog so take the advise for what it's worth.
Define "progressive"?
Doesn't that mean "to move forward"?
Ham for the camera? What? Now you are just wrong. I was dressed in my grubs to put up canopy, set up PA, take pictures and get signs up. Hardly the time I would want to be pictured. I ended up giving out way more buttons than I anticipated. (We gave out umbrellas too.) I was chair for Virginia's last Supervisor campaign and my wife and I have been part of her cmpaign teams since she was in office for Eureka! What is your problem Jon?
"Ham for the camera? What? Now you are just wrong."
Please. I know Richard, it was a joke (see the sideways smiley face? that indicates light heartedness). Also, I would have taken one of those umbrella, damn, wish I was there.
My problem is that you support political candidates based on friendship rather than policy. You say you are progressive, then you support the most conservative of candidates to include Supervisor Bohn, Councilman Newman, and Supervisor Bass, yes the latter over and over.
My problem is that you have until now not stated for the record that you will be supporting her again this year even with her flat-unDemocratic votes on the GPU.
My problem is that we are selling our GPU plan to the highest bidder and you are fine with that because you don't think anyone cares.
So, lets forget about regional planning because, shoot the public doesn't care. What? Realtors and property owners have definite ideas with how and where we should build. Shoot? Let's give them 30 more years to figure it out. They are doing a fine job. (Sarcasm)
Here is a great site on regional planning. Check it out someday. The guy is not a liberal fanatic either - he is a professional planner with a libertarian streak. He has seen his hometown in Minnesota converted to the pavement paradise that the entire I5 corridor has become. It's not growth that is a concern Richard, it is pattern of growth.
It's a "low risk, high return" strategy". Check out some of his podcasts some day, here is the last one I had time to watch. It's a great intro to smart growth.

8:09 That is exactly what Matthew Owen said to me. That's his philosophy appently. One has to win first in order to progress right? So if Supervisor Bass can win, even though her land use policies are not progressive, in a way, given the always forward-moving nature of time itself, we are in a sence progressing. Hence Supervisor Bass is a progressive! QED!
"Nothing ever changes, does it," jon?
See what happens when you engage the demigod jon? Before he's done with you you'll wonder who your father and mother are or even if you had a father. He'll tell you when to sleep, when to get up, when to eat and when to take a dump, then he'll tell you how to wipe.
He jabbers on until your eyes glaze over. He's just like a deer caught in the headlights, totally clueless. But don't believe any of this just because I say so - I learned the hard way. There's a difference between observations garnered by experience and the worthless opinions of babies.
6:00 am is a good time to wake up. Best to get some exercise and a good breakfast before the days activities.
10:00 pm is a great time to get to bed. A full night's sleep will help re-invigorate the spirit.
But remember to mix it up once in a while.
Did Richard Marks just confess to setting up an illegal structure in front of the courthouse, in violation of Bass' own emergency ordinance??
Wait a minute....didn't I just read a post on this blog condemning the HCDCC for violating its Bylaws?
Did Bass get a variance??
Seriously!
Who are you people??
