I'm just guessing that they were in search of patches of blue skies and fog with a mix of rain and good food.
I hope they tried the beer.
The beer's OK. How did they like the cockroaches?
In my experience, the cockroaches tend to be bland. The beer is better.
Last time I was there it was a great dining experience. It's so noisy you can't hear yourself talk. The front door was open and it was freezing cold. The smell of exhaust from 4th Street permeated the place. Food was mediocre at best. I won't be going back.
I wonder if 12:35 works there. He/she seems like a nice person.
The food is great and the place is clean.

You've got to consider the source. Can't have lower standards than Samoa Cookhouse. For some, eating large quantities of high calorie food is a sport.
Richard the grease king.
The last time I ate there the food was bland, the service was slow, and the price was high. It did seem clean, though. I didn't inspect the kitchen for roaches but had one appeared I wouldn't have been shocked. The only reason I can see to come to Humboldt County as a tourist is if one is tired of paying the exorbinant prices at the 215 clubs in the Bay Area.
