Top Ten Political signs 2010!

1. Dave Meserve-All over Arcata you can see these individually painted signs. By far the best signs in Humboldt County.

2. Marian Brady-You might not like the Brady Bunch theme, but you have to admit that those round signs are flashy and well done. Stands to reason. Marian is a graphic arts designer.

3. Alex Stillman-Kind of quirky but it works. The old style theme, or whatever it is, just is kinda mellow.

4. Mike Newman-These signs stick out like a sore thumb! You can't miss them and the little man in the middle is different.

5. Allison Jackson-Very artsy. Nice contrast. Serves Jackson well.

6. Paul Gallegos-Repeat signs that have worked in past. I guess they are thinking, "If it ain't broke, don't mess with it."

7. Xandra Manns-Home made, grass roots, serves Green Party candidate well.

8. Larry Glass-Shouts out like a conservative, but this candidate is way left.

9. Frank Jager-Recycling signs Ala Gallegos, and these colors really force you to look.

10. Ryan Sundberg-I like them and hate them. I don't know why. They are different.

Just missed the list: Bonnie Neely signs. Soft color, and when you can just put your first name on a sign, you have big time name recognition.

Where is Bass on my list you might ask? I wanted the hook in the water but was out numbered, so we went with the red white and blue thing. They are nice, but where's the Hooked on Bass theme?

Richard, do you support Mike Newman or or Ron Kuhnel for council? Can you tell why as well?

Thank you

Alex and Dave's signs are being reused from previous elections.

Richards other favorite sign:

"Merge Right"

10:12am Mike Newman. He is a personal friend and that trumps politics. Mike is the moderate in the race and supports the Marina Center. Ron Kuhnel is taking a neutral stand. If I was not supporting Mike, I would be helping Xandra in this race. She is well qualified and more to my left wing side.

You must be kidding??? Xandra Manns is one of the ones that wanted the mill to stay closed.

Mike Newman is a bible-thumping right-wing Republican who is president of the most right-wing lobby in Eureka, the Chamber of Commerce. You support him over Ron Kuhnel, the most qualified Dem to run in decades?? Turn in your blue, dude. You are gone to the Democrats.

Fred: Xandra was vocal about the Pulp Mill and I respect her view. She supported my candidacy in the past even though I was a Pulp Mill employee. I really like and respect her.

8:53am-Mike is a moderate declined to state candidate. He helped with my campaign and even phonebanked for me. If you have ever met Mike, he is hard to not like. Ron is a nice guy, but one of his decisions on the planning commission hit my wallet.

I am not a straight party Democrat. I have endorsed and sent money to Green Party candidates while on the Humboldt County Democratic Central Committee and never heard a word. But this election cycle has become nasty.

If you support candidates who support the Marina Center, you are not welcomed by some Democrats. But there are many good Democrats on the local committee and they work hard. I just don't believe they speak for the majority of the Democrats in the area. They disagreed, so I resigned my voting membership. I might stay on as an associate so I can work on the working committees and not be broiled in the other working parts.

You did not indicate whether the decision was in the public interest or not, only that you personally did not benefit.

My God Richard, you are shallow.

6:18pm-Yep. That's me. Shallow. Check out the rest of my blog. Never claimed to be a deep thinker. The issue was not good for the public interest and was high profile in the media. Wondering what it was? Give me a call.

Ron has taken a position on the Marina Center & he wants to make it perfectly clear ;
One bar on every corner & a liquor store in between bars .

Ron Kuhnel Says:

I am a fanatic beer geek and beer taster. I am rkuhnel on BeerAdvocate and Hayduke on Ratebeer. I am also Hayduke on The Beer in Me

Example ; Kuhnel 2 % opposition 79%

third part candidate = 19%

Thanks for pointing out Ron likes beer. He gets my vote for sure. This is the true measure of a quality candidate.

Good Golly Mr. Anon-'O-ass
This appeared to just be post regarding what signs were eye-catching and why? Amazing that you have nothing better to do with your obvious wit and wisdom than to go online and turn this into a badger-fest. Get a life, better yet, run for an office yourself and put your name on the line sometime.

Anon: 8:53 am, how many races has Ron Kuhnel been running for and lost? I lost count. Face it, your prog crows is dead and loosing steam. Political historical examples can be proven. Should I name some names? Face it, the movement is dead and you would rather not face reality.

You honestly cannot count past one?Hell,I have always tended to disagree when people have talked about a "dumb electorate",but you my friend, prove that those folks are correct.

Aside from Meserve, I think Bonnie had the prettiest signs. The Brady signs get your attention, but they're kind of busy.

I like the generic simplicity of the Hank signs.
