Gang rape at Arcata Sports Complex. 50 feet away from softball play.

And none of us heard a thing. Our Uniontown used tire softball team had just finished a 12-8 win against Big Pete's pizza team and we were all in the parking lot while the field rep shut off the lights. Out of the dark came a young lady who asked one of our umps for a cell phone so she could call her dad and tell him she was raped! The ump and the field rep went running to the woods to see if anyone was around will the police were called. One of the lady players in the league who is a trained nurse tended to the upset young lady until the Arcata officers showed up within minutes. (I was over with the Betz Bombers team talking softball past and was wondering about what all the commotion was across the parking lot.) Then the Ambulance and Arcata Fire Department showed. Two of our umps and field rep found a guy spun out with a pair of women's panties next to him in the wooded area behind the fields and held him up until officers took over. The young lady said 3 men were involved. I was able to turn the field lights on so the ambulance could make it's way to the guy. He became belligerent and put up a fight. At the same time the young lady, who was waiting in the back of the police car started to try to kick out the windows, so I went and found the officer of that car who was helping with the spun dude. While they were trying to calm the guy in the ambulance he started spitting on the EMT and pissing all over. He started yelling, "Don't you know who my father is? He is going to kill you!" Then he started chanting loudly, "Beelzebub, Beelzebub, Beelzebub, Beelzebub!"

This whole thing was like in slow motion and surreal. What is going on in our world, when this kind of evil is so close to real life? Just a bunch of softballers having fun and playing ball after work within feet of druggies doing what they do, making life hell on others. When I left (just about a half hour ago) they were still looking for the other two suspects and officers were abundant. Thank God for the quick response of the Arcata police and the Arcata Fire Department.

The Mad River Softball Association Field Representative and Umpires deserve an award for their role in this craziness.

Times Standard: ◼ Man arrested for rape in Arcata, another on the loose
Arcata police arrested one man and are looking for another believed to have sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman near the Arcata Sports Complex Monday night.

Kevin Scott Walker, 37, of Eureka was booked into Humboldt County jail on suspicion of rape. The second man remains on the loose. He is described as a white or Indian male adult in his early twenties with dark shoulder-length hair and thin facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Community Park Way for the report of a sexual assault at 11:17 p.m. They located a 25-year-old woman being comforted by bystanders....

Times Standard: ◼ Man arrested for rape in Arcata
A man who pleaded guilty to felony assault in what was widely believed to be a hate crime in 2008 was arrested on suspicion of rape in Arcata Monday.

Kevin Scott Walker, 37, of Arcata was in Humboldt County Superior Court today for violation of probation related to the 2008 case. Walker was arrested in May 2008, along with Collin Roczey, after witnesses reported seeing three men fighting in a Trinidad beach parking lot. Witnesses said Walker and Roczey were holding another man down, hitting his head on the ground, hitting him with a metal pipe and stepping on his face while shouting anti-Mexican slurs.

The two men were originally arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault and kidnapping, but pleaded guilty to the assault charge in a plea deal....

(Actually they pled guilty to assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, which carries a two, three or four-year sentence. They were originally charged with kidnapping to commit a crime, assault with a deadly weapon and sodomy in concert with another person.) according to prior coverage.

Probation sentence for Trinidad assault

Updated: 07/17/2008 01:16:21 AM PDT

Two men who pleaded guilty to weapons charges in an allegedly racially motivated assault against another man in Trinidad were sentenced Wednesday to three years probation with no additional time in jail.

They will have to serve 300 hours of community service.

Judge Bruce Watson credited Collin Roczey, 18, and Kevin Walker, 35, for the 60 days they served in jail.

However, Roczey's probation was amended, and Watson stipulated he must complete high school, or a GED program, and become gainfully employed under the terms of his probation.

Both men were charged for court costs and restitution fees.

The two men were originally arrested in May on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault and kidnapping, but pleaded guilty to the weapons charge in a plea deal.

The arrest stemmed from reports three men were fighting in a Trinidad beach parking lot. When authorities arrived, they reportedly found two men fighting another. All were allegedly intoxicated.

Police statements from witnesses describe Roczey and Walker holding the victim down, hitting his head against the ground, hitting him with a metal pipe and stepping on his face while saying anti-Mexican slurs.

As Walker walked from the Humboldt County Superior Court room Wednesday afternoon, he spoke briefly to Roczey, advising him to “take care of yourself, and don't get in any more trouble out there.”

As the mother of the young woman who was attacked I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to all of you who came to her aid that terrible night. You will never know how much I appreciate all of the help you afforded my daughter. Your compassion and kindness will surely be rewarded tenfold by blessings from the Lord.

Sexual assault happens to 1/4 women in a lifetime. This is unacceptable.

Can people with experience please post doctors and courselors they believed to be helpful with medical and psychological support after an incident?

Arcata is in need of a rape survivors group.

You Guys Are Fools... The Arcata Police are retards and probably set this guy up... The last time in 2008 the reason they got off with just an assault charge was because the pipe they said they hit the guy with was a 20ft drain pipe.. You try swinging that.. Next police made a comment about rape to the suppose of victim and he said, " oh yeah they raped me".. The victim then ran when the accused lawyered up because he failed the rape test... Hmmmm Next the suppose of victim got arrested for drugs and theft 6 hours later in Oregon.. So in 2008 the Police in your town where idiots and guess what, they are still idiots.. Good Luck
