Samoa Pulp Mill 4 years latter.

I was reminded by a past co-worker that today is the 4th Anniversary of the closing of the Samoa Pulp Mill. I miss that place of work to this day. I miss the friendships, the comraderie and even the quirks of working shift work. Too bad this mill couldn't be re-opened. C'est la vie.

Two consonants after a vowel makes the vowel short.

I miss the stench.

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
Philippians 1:6

The evidence is here, the science of the LORD Jesus Christ is before you. The end of the LORDS work is part of the larger picture. The end of the pulp mill is a sign. Those who are blind to it, we pray for them. Those who do not read the GOOD book because there is no paper, we pray for them. This is the Return of the LORD Jesus Christ.

Starting to think Samoa is not a place for industry anymore. As is evident in my old workplace at the recycling center which I believe was next door to the mill

We could have had a Hershey's chocolate factory but they decided on pulp mills instead.

It is a shame to see so much technological effort gone to waste so to speak. Enviro lawsuits drove Evergreen out before they could really fix their air pollution problems--and they were willing to do so but enviros couldn't wait. Enviros, now Progs, have created a hostile business climate in Humboldt County by successfully attacking and closing down Humboldt's anchor businesses so the County remains one of the poorest in California. Progs don't care about either the working class or poorer citizens of Humboldt County. They want to keep Humboldt an economic backwater so that larger corporations won't be attracted to come here and provide jobs and services to the two classes Progs are at economic-political war with-working class and poor.

Richard, if we could have gotten you or someone with credentials to accompany Sparky and me in talks with Chinese I do think something might have happened that would have countered the enviro lawsuit attack on Evergreen. But we'll never know and Heartlands is no where nearer to happening than it was in 2005 when we were in negotiations with Evergreen Pulp.

Still have great ideas for new pulp products, and ones like chip-crete brick-making don't require any heavy duty chemical processing.

Stephen: There are alot of things I would do differently now in hindsight about this issue. "I Wanna go back, and do it all over, but I can't go back I know......."

Steve Lewis said...

Yes, you can, Richard. With the Lewis Waybackistanic Time Reversal Z-Pod using focused positronic time reversal fields to create a wave back to the past, now you can go back in time and fix all those mistakes you or any of us make in life. It's a great new product in our Heartlands line and will be coming out our next Spring catalog.

The Chinese were out to screw us, and they did. Stephen you are living in a fantasy world.

Steve Lewis said...

No, anonymous, the Chinese were not out to screw us, not when they bought out the old pulp mill and were willing to bring it into compliance and went to exceptional lengths to get the community behind them. They needed time to change the equipment, time which enviros that form your opinions would not give them, seeing another opportunity to attack another Humboldt anchor business to shut down when owners were willing to comply with just about any regulations given them. But not lawsuits.

Yes, the Chinese went typical corporate shut-down layoff and cut losses mode and ended up screwing workers out of their rightful compensations but that was AFTER being lawsuited by your guys. Before enviro lawsuit attacks Evergreen was willing to cooperate with everyone. They had no reason to be nice after paying huge lawsuit and facing more. What business would? Ask Richard, he was there. I was there. You weren't there. You're just parroting enviro propaganda.

Anonymous said...

How the hell do you know who forms my opinions Stephen, you don't know me. I amot an "enviro" and they do not form my opinions. Lawsuited by "my guys"??????? You are a weirdo.

Steve Lewis said...

I can always tell when I win any debate with anonymous enviro or Prog cronies by their resorting to slander and petty schoolyard name-calling in place of any reasoned argument.

Steve Lewis said...

"How do you know I wasn't there."

Were you working for Evergreen at the time? If not, the only way you were there is as what I said you were, as a demonstrator, i.e. political crony of the enviro-Progressive clique that thinks it can dictate Humboldt County politics by destroying all of Humboldt County's anchor businesses except Prog and enviro support ones, HSU gov't and parent subsidized college town and the whole Humboldt pot economy. Those are protected. The working class job providers are destroyed. The poor can go to hell as far as Progs go, let them eat cake. Need I go on describing enviro and Prog cronyism and how you guys, yes, you who participate from the outside and think you can dictate to the inside of the businesses you attack, get a clue. You're the Problem now. Not any solution that helps the whole Humboldt community.

It is my belief mesothelioma can be the most deadly cancer.

It's got unusual traits. The more I look at it the harder I am sure it does not act like a true solid tissue cancer. If mesothelioma is a rogue viral infection, so there is the chance of developing a vaccine along with offering vaccination for asbestos exposed

I have really learned some new things from a blog post.
One other thing to I have seen is that usually, FSBO sellers will certainly reject an
individual. Remember, they would prefer not to use your products and services.
But if a person maintain a gentle, professional relationship,
offering support and being contact for four to five weeks,
you will usually have the ability to win a business
interview. From there, a house listing follows. Cheers

My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard work due to no backup.

Do you have any solutions to stop hackers?

One more thing I would like to say is that as opposed
to trying to match all your online degree lessons on times that you end work
(because most people are worn out when they get back),
try to receive most of your sessions on the weekends and only a couple courses on weekdays, even if it means taking some time away from your end .
This is really good because on the saturdays and sundays, you will be much more
rested as well as concentrated on school work.
Thanks a lot for the different recommendations I have acquired from your blog site.
