I have noticed a number of Ron Paul signs in Fortuna.
In Eureka, there's what looks like a home made Paul sign at the corner of Harris and Harrison. A couple at (the same house) as you head east, down to the golf course on Herrick and one on F street, south of Harris. Those are just the ones I've noticed.
Also noticed a car stopped a couple houses down the street from my house the other day. I thought it was a pizza delivery as he had one of those magnetic signs the pizza delivery guys attach to the hood of their cars. As he drove away, passing me, I could see the sign said "Ron Paul...".
And just a couple days ago I received my Ron Paul baseball hat.
I think it's really phenomenal, as I've said before. I don't recall ever seeing so many signs up for a dark horse candidate in a primary election.
There were three people waving homemade signs on Bwy near Costco yesterday. They looked very young.
There's supposed to be a march for Paul on December 1. They're planning on marching from the Bayshore Mall to the court house. Don't know how many people will attend. I might, depending on how work goes.
Here's some reporting about Ron Paul that doesn't come from Ron Paul's website...

The Constitution since its inception has granted citizenship to anyone born in the United States. Ron Paul wants to amend the Constitution to change this. Why?
Just a side note: The USA today had a full page ad paid for by a Lawrence Lepard Wednesday. Pretty impressive ad I might add. Starting to hear people talk about him now where he was not a factor before.
I am unabashedly sticking to Edwards until the cows come home.
Andrew, why should someone be a US citizen just because they were born on US soil?
Ron Paul is a well known anti-semite and right wing nutcase. He sees conspiracies everywhere and endorses many positions of The John Birch Society, including pulling out of the UN.
He deserves his marginal position.
"...including pulling out of the UN.".
I don't have a problem with that.

And this is why there aren't many situations where I would support him. However, if it would get us out of Iraq, I'd vote for just about anyone. That's why I'd try to keep an open mind if he made it to the general election, but that's not going to happen.
I should add that I think that someone like Ron Paul deserves less of a marginal position than someone as dangerous as Rudy Giuliani. I agree that many of Paul's views deserve to be marginalized, along with all conservative views, but I don't think that he's dangerous in the way that the other Republican presidential candidates are. In short, wing nuts are less dangerous than neocons.
Rudy Giuliani is truly awful. He's forced right-wing Christians to support his voodoo candidacy through his steadfast allegiance to Satan.
Romney, the Stepford candidate is scary too. He's like the President in a 1960s science fiction movie who has been planted by aliens.
9:22 am.....Why should someone be a U.S. citizen because they were born on U.S. soil?
Because it's been in the U.S. Constitution for 220 years?
Wingnuts are less dangerous than neocons because they are there to put thing in order, tightly. neocons are just that, cons in a ultra state. That is it in a "nutshell."
Satan?...Aliens?
Maybe you people DESERVE Ron Paul.
Our government ignores most of the the Constitution anyway, so why should they uphold that small part of it to assure illegal aliens health and welfare benefits just beacuse their child was born here? That law is outdated, doesn't make any sense, and should be changed. If my child was born in Mexico would he/she/it automatically be granted Mexican citizenship?
If my child was born in Mexico would he/she/it automatically be granted Mexican citizenship?
My understanding is that anybody born in Mexico is automatically granted Mexican citizenship. So the answer to your question would be yes. However, if you want your child to be an American citizen as well, you should immediately report the birth to the nearest American consular office in order to establish a record of your child's U.S. citizenship claim.
Saw the Repub. debate last night, reafirms my non Republickin stance.None of those fellers have a clue as to what an average working person feels.Huckabee seems to be the closest to reality in the bunch.
Watch close for the emergance of the Turn Your Head and Cough Party!
I like my party best. None.
Uh. OK, 4:15 p.m., if you feel the Constitution is outdated, well I can't argue with you when it comes to the 2nd Amendment. There is no need now for a citizens' militia and guns are entirely too acessible in the United States.
Case in point: A little girl on a schoolyard playground in San Pablo was struck by a stray bullet yesterday. It's pretty clear to me that we need to strike the 2nd amendment and confiscate all guns.
There is no reason for private citizens to own firearms. Are you with me?

Really? You like having an all-professional military that depends on the poverty draft? I'd rather see something resembling a citizens' militia, involving the general population in national defense.

So that the government can have a monopoly on firearms, like in China? Anti-poverty programs and massive investments in public education are the best ways to prevent crime. And firearms education is the best way to prevent accidents.
There is no reason for private citizens to own firearms. Are you with me?
No. I like the constitution. Both the citizenship and the gun parts.
Andrew, we may eventually need our guns to protect ourselves from our own government.
Geez Andrew, no wonder Lavalle lost.
Richard, Shane Brinton says he would vote for Republican Ron Paul before he votes for Democrat Hillary Clinton. Which one of you yahoos appointed little Shane to the Humboldt Democratic Central Committee? And why? Are you really that desperate for members, Richard?
He'd vote for an anti-war Republican over Billary! You can't let him get away with that! I heard that he likes guns and flannel shirts too. You should certainly kick him off of the Central Committee. Richard, face it, your little friend is a conservative Libertarian, not a progressive Democrat. All that left-wing crap is just a cover. He's actually working for Fred. I have secret documents, stolen from the Acme Building offices of Richard Salzman (also a Libertarian agent), that prove it. Rather than have meetings like a real political party, the lazy but mischievous local Libertarians decided to create a secret program similar to cointelpro. Their goal is to destabilize the other local parties and become the dominant force in Humboldt County politics. Shane is their inside guy in the Democratic Party. He reports directly to Fred for his assignments. They also have agents in the Republican Party and the Green Party, but I have yet to discover who they are. I'm sorry to have to tell you all of this Richard. I know you like the little guy, but he has been manipulating you, under direct orders from Fred, who in turn serves at the behest of Ron Paul. Unfortunately, your entire campaign for supervisor was in fact a Libertarian stealth campaign. That should make you feel a little better about losing. Just think, if you had won, Fred would have controlled everything.
But wait, there's more. If anybody is interested in the truth, I will leave a file with documentation in the dumpster behind the creepy Indian food place in Arcata. I'm only leaving one set of copies though, so hurry to get there before the competition does!
Wow. There is nothing that I can say in response to anon 9:35 that is anywhere near as interesting or entertaining as what anon 11:14 wrote, so I won't even try.
Local school board member Shane Brinton, who was elected with only 15% of the vote, and who was NOT elected to the Humboldt Dem Cent Comm, but was APPOINTED by the same individuals on the HCDCC that he's been sucking up to for years, now says he wants to own guns to protect himself from the American government? OK, then psycho Shane. Good luck in your future shootout with the ATF.
There were 8 candidates in that race. It's not like anybody got a majority. Of the three winners Mike Pigg was the top vote getter, and he only received 20.83%. That was the nature of the race. And yes, I was appointed to the Central Committee, because there was a vacancy on the committee between elections. Is there a problem with that? I'm wondering what point you are trying to prove here.
And when did I say that I want to own guns to protect myself from the government? I think something of that nature was posted by a different commenter. I said that I'm against the government having a monopoly on the ownership of firearms. My guess is that most people on both sides of the political spectrum would agree with that statement. That doesn't mean that I'm planning on using a gun to protect myself from the government. At this point in my life I'm not even a gun owner. I was simply making an argument for the second amendment, because Andrew wants to get rid of it, and I disagree.
If you actually disagree with me about something substantial, why don't you get a name and come back for a real debate about some specific topic?
OK, Shane, you little dishonest ambitious future Wes Chesbro wannabe. It's not like you've ever had a real job in your life, or want one - just like Wesley. It's not like you have any kids either. Does the fact that YOU ARE A KID somehow qualify you for any public office? Just because you kissed the asses of the local ossified Democratic Central Committee and spent money to get a really rather unimpressive 15% of the vote IN ARCATA makes you an authority on these subjects, how?
11:14pm-Fred's not going to like this!
OK, Shane, you little dishonest ambitious future Wes Chesbro wannabe.
Wrong. Although I'm interested in public service, I'm not sure that I want to run for office again. If I do, it will probably be after I finish college and find a career for myself. I like and respect Wes, but I don't want to be like him.
It's not like you've ever had a real job in your life, or want one - just like Wesley.
It's true that I have very little work experience, but it's not true that I've never had a job.
It's not like you have any kids either. Does the fact that YOU ARE A KID somehow qualify you for any public office?
The fact that I am recent high school graduate certainly helps me to understand our young people and our schools. That should qualify me just as much as being a parent would. Some teachers have told me that they value my input as a recent student. I really appreciate that and I take it a lot more seriously than anything an anonymous commenter has to say.
Just because you kissed the asses of the local ossified Democratic Central Committee and spent money to get a really rather unimpressive 15% of the vote IN ARCATA makes you an authority on these subjects, how?
I also got votes in McKinleyville, as well as Trinidad, Blue Lake, Manila, and other places in the district. I spent a lot of time knocking on doors to get those votes. 15% wasn't bad considering there were eight candidates, three of whom where running as a "progressive" slate.
You're still not challenging me on any real issues. You're just attacking me for being young. Have you ever been to a school board meeting? Why don't you come and find something real to disagree with me about?
If you don't like the way I'm serving the district, I'd be happy to talk to you about it.
