Eureka Police Chief Andy Mills, “(Eureka) more violent than New Orleans!”

When the top police officer for your counties largest municipality (About 27,017 down from 28,600 in 1990!) makes an opening statement during a “Community Leadership” panel at Cannifest, “Eureka is more violent than New Orleans!” It tends to get your attention quick. When he says, “Santa Rosa had 5 homicides compared to our 22.”  You are forced to listen. And you just become downright concerned when he points out that 125 weapons were confiscated last year.  When he states that the Cannabis community should get more involved with solving the crime issues by standing firm and united and points out they need to say “enough is enough” in a singular voice against the criminal elements, maybe, just maybe it is time for the cannabis community to listen to his message of hope.

But his disgust was evident when talking about sneaking BHO labs around Eureka and the bad cannabis players. And where is the deterrence leverage when someone has been busted twice for over ¼ pound of Heroin with weapons in a year? Mr. Mills feels part of the solution lies at the feet of the cannabis industry that is compliant and pays taxes. How long does the cannabis community wait until it engages? Maybe the time is now.

  1. He is a cop, not a mathimatician- Eureka, Violent Crime - per 100K== 618
New Orleans, Violent Crime - per 100K == 957. Without crime he would not have a job. ** overall Eureka, CA crime rate is 141% higher than the California average and is 156% higher than the national average. Looking at violent crime specifically, Eureka, CA has a violent crime rate that is 45% higher than the California average and 66% higher than the national average. For property crime, Eureka, CA is 156% higher than the California average and 170% higher than the national average. Eureka is safer than 7% of the cities in the United States. Frrom the FBI's Unified Crime reports for 2015. You probably would not like to see how Eureka matched up against other cities with the same or close to population.

The blame is fully on the law makers in Sacramento and their flock of sheep that vote themselves to slaughter.

  4. Marcus: Your odds of being murdered in Eureka is 1 out of 1228 people. (22 between 27,017 in Eureka 2016.) In New Orleans your odds are 1 out of 2226! (175 between 389,617 in New Orleans in 2016) You are safer from being murdered in New Orleans. I think that is what Andy is suggesting.

The left always retreats to statistics when trying to prove that argument.

Mills is pointing out the fact he has his finger in a overflowing dam and he's using any forum to get the message out.

  9. What is really needed is a shakeup at our local community college cop school. All the instructors have worked here are working here and it's just recycling bad habits and sniffles innovations.

No Justice, No Protection just a Transfer

Andy Mills has commented that the police can not arrest them selfs out of the problem but I say, something has to be done if the cause of the problem are the officers themselves.
On September 17 2014 in Eureka Ca. Tommy McClain was shot and killed as he stood in his front yard and just after getting home from celebrating his cousins birthday. Any Mills was the chief of police at that time, he is soon to be transferring to Santa Cruz. Instead of calling in a outside department he made himself the coordinator of the investigation. I'm sure, the men and women of the Eureka's police department are fine people and they have a difficult job protecting the community but when it come to making mistakes like the killing of Tommy McClain and the death of angel Lopez in San Diego. Mills has not been forth coming with the truth. He has shown a lack of integrity by condoning his officers actions and not holing them accountable for their wrongdoings. Mills had made statements to the public, he has reported inaccurate and misleading information. I have always admired and respected law enforcement. The death of Tommy has not changed that. Unfortunately, I assumed that all officers are honest so the ones that are not don't take their position very seriously, law-enforcement are here to protect us not jeopardize our lives.
Mr. Mills concluded that the utilization of force was justified and dismissed all inopportune police conduct. But the investigation was predicated on fallacious information that was propitious to his officers and the department. The outcome of the investigation was reached from a plenarily partialness conclusion by consummately ignoring the facts that the officer's own temerarious or deliberate conduct during the initial contact with Tommy, unreasonably created a situation, that evidently ended the life of Mr McClain. I can provide you with enough information that would convince you that the killing of Tommy McClain was completely unjustified. So don't be fooled by him, Mills will prove himself to be more of a liability than an asset.
    Have a nice day
