You think those homes are cheap? A Facebook gal buddy of mine posted some pictures and prices of homes in Missouri as she was planning on moving there. Wow!
As I recall it was $30 and 40k'ish for really nice 4 bedroom homes.
Actually, maybe it wasn't Missouri. Just checked the home listings there and they weren't that inexpensive. Must have been a different state. Maybe Kansas?

I wouldn't mind, but the wife wouldn't go for it. I'd love to get out of California. Can't really afford to move, though.

My cousin's SO just bought some cheap condos in Phoenix, like under $20K. She has a bad track record in investments so we'll see how this works. My personal rule is not to buy real estate I wouldn't be willing to live in. That lets out Phoenix. All of Arizona, actually.
