Shane Brinton for Arcata City Council!

Shane has thrown his hat in the ring to run for Arcata City Council. I wholeheartedly support Shane's effort. Not only has Shane been successful as an elected member of the Northern Humboldt Union High School District (NHUHSD), he has been heavily involved and knowledgeable in progressive local politics. A few years ago he managed my failed campaign for County Supervisor against Bonnie Neely that had little chance for success, and we had the most cost effective campaign of the candidates and came darn close! When my wife Robin ran for the NHUHSD he was instrumental in strategy to help her election victory. His management of the Mark Lovelace campaign for County Supervisor was highly methodical and successful. Shane knows politics and how to make things happen! Shane is a champion of workers rights and supporter of living wages in Humboldt County. This is a great opportunity for the residents of Arcata to support a life long member of the community.

    The future Wesley Chesbro?

  2. I was thinking the same thing. A Chebro clone- a life long politician who has never had a job in the private sector. Scary.

Wes is living the septic tank life of politicians. The bigger the TURD the quicker they rise. Let's hope Shane stays a little poop.

Fred, I don't think you've ever held down a job in the private sector either.

Supporting Marks was one thing, he was in a race against two reactionary Republicans. Supporting Lovelace was another thing entirely, since there was a more qualified, experienced, and progressive candidate in the race. Shane's not getting my vote, nor the vote of any Pitino supporters.

Actually, if I may correct Fred- "life long politician" would imply that Shane's ever gotten paid to be an elected official, and school board is a volunteer position.

As far as having not worked any private sector jobs, he's sold ads for a local publication and done work for other local business owners. There's your private sector.

He's also done a whole lot of busting his butt for various folks, whatever sector you want to attach that work to.

Not here to stir up trouble, but a correction seemed appropriate.

    So Monica....

    How does Shane support himself?

  9. Hello Anonymous-

Shane works part-time for a friend of his who owns a local consulting business.

He also ran the Lovelace campaign (for which he got paid), and decided not to add another thing to his plate until this election is over.

If you'd like more details on what he does for a living, you're welcome to give him a call. He's happy to talk to his constituents.

It's totally alright for a working girl to keep a boy toy in the 21th century. No need to get defencive. The only question constituents will need answered from your paramour is, boxers or briefs.

The Chesbro clone that would love to follow in Wesley's footsteps is a Eureka City Council member and local political consultant. Chris Kerrigan. Is that who Shane works for?

You certainly cannot be savvy if you can't even spell the word, as being savvy involves having knowledge as well as shrewdness.

I suggested that to Chris Kerrigan himself a few years ago. He denied it but, as I've mentioned before, I won't hold him to it.

  24. Why don't you folks who chronically whine about "politicians" run for office?

In the meantime, you should thank everyone who is willing to serve, whether you agree with their politics or not.

    "No need to get defencive"

No need to spell correctly, you clown, and your interest in men's lingerie should be taken elsewhere.

As usual when you have no come back or point to you DEFENSE you try to make spelling or any other non issue your lack luster DEFENSE. Even more stupid, you couldn't even see that the poster corrected the simple error. You are so Cheesebro like you must be a radical lib. It's also interesting that when the subject of mens underware is brought up you call it lingerie. Carson,if you would take a s*#t you could think clearer.

Shane Brinton was standing right behind Chesbro in the photo for the story announcing Chesbro's inheritance of the Assembly seat. If Shane doesn't want to be Chesbro, he is giving conflicting signals. And I do recall Shane Brinton insisting that he would not run for another public office until he finished college. Has Shane Brinton graduated from college yet?

When is Joel Mielke/Carson Park Ranger going to run for public office?

  34. Anonymous12:44 PM

As soon as Joel Mielke gets done hangin' with the boys at Azalea Park, maybe he'll run for Eureka Boy-Chaser.

What exactly qualifies Shane Brinton for Arcata City Council, other than Shane's campaign work for Richard Marks and Mark Lovelace?

    ReplyDelete
  36. 1:03pm-Shane's work for social justice includes, worker advocacy, renter's rights, homeless support, campaign reform and political education both nationally and locally. Shane is currently an elected official on the Northern Humboldt Union High School District and has made many decisions to help enhance one of the finest school districts in the state.

Now let me ask, what have you, anonymous, done for your community?

Now go get that checkbook out and help Shane get elected! The limit for individuals to contribute to Shane's campaign is $170 for Arcata elections.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous5:04 PM

Shane's active in homeless support? Then where was he when the current Arcata City Council gave the Endeavor the axe?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous5:07 PM

I think everyone knows that it will be Machi, Ornealas, Winkler in that order. That's just how it is in Arcata right now. Shane's a nice kid but without appeal to the Arcata homeowner or wimmin vote.

Pitino couldn't get reelected. Groves could, but the Arcata council is a dead end for her.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous12:07 PM

You might be right about Machi and Susan Ornelas (definitely not Enema Bob!), but Winkler has burned his support in the progressive community by turning his back on civil liberties issues like medical marijuana and police review. I don't think the student population is too excited over his support of city bureaucrats performing "rental inspections" on every student dwelling in town. Winkler lost twice before due to his personality defects, and has now lost his base. He's going nowhere, and will spend even more copious amounts of money to do so.
