Virginia Bass-Jackson new Eureka Mayor?

I see Virginia has thrown her hat into the ring for Eureka Mayor. Virginia is a great host at OH's Townhouse, home of Humboldt's finest Prime rib. My wife and I have enjoyed many dinners there. Virginia is also a regular at Cal Courts and I have seen her playing very competitive Racquetball. Peter LaValle is the current mayor and signed up recently for a Democrats for Republicans Committee. I guess Peter lived in Trinity County at one time. I did not know that. I had a Weaverville town leader corner me during a tournament I was hosting and he had nothing positive to say about Eureka's Mayor. Maybe I should start a Real Democrats for Virginia Committee. I will have to see how she stacks up concerning local issues though. I want to make an educated informed decision on a candidate and not just let Local Solutions tell me how to think. I am too PROGRESSIVE for that.

if you dont let loco solutions tell you what to do, then why do you buy into david cobbs false claims of leadership? hes a conman who stole the green nomination and sucks money out of activists for a living. you can bet cobb is already lining up his troops to attack virginia.

Virginia is a real person. She has never been nothing but positive to me. Never negative. She was close to the late Loren Price who was one of my best friends in life. Virginia will tell you herself we are not close or even personal. If she wants my personal endorsement, she can play me in raquetball at Cal Courts. Or one on one in basketball.

Arkely suck up plain and simple.

What exactly is that Democrats For Republicans Committee all about?

Peter signed on with the Democrats for Neely.

Elizabeth is on the money. But this is blogdom and I'm afraid it is wishful thinking.

Virginia and I grew up a few blocks from each other in Myrtletown. She is very local, and represents normal working middle class. She is a working class!

Peter can support all the popular Republicans he wants. Is it you Peter or Local Solutions? Time to go!

I'm pretty loose with the monitoring. Free speech and all. I just hope no one abuses this. My Softball Blog is kinda edging toward politics. My bad!

Elizabeth asks if we feel victimized? Damn straight we do! David Cobb stole the Green Party nomination, ruined us in several states and for all that he gets to misrepresent us every week in the Times-Standard. We never elected him to pick up dog crap, much less be our spokesman. Now he's ordering us to back the Loco Solutions slate of LaVallee, Kuhnel and so on. We're just supposed to lap it up and obey.

Join me in voting for Virginia. I will be doing what I can to help her get elected. May even get active. It is a non partisan race afterall. (Haven't I had that one shoved in my face the last 4 months!)

Marshall Spalding is more your style, he talks about living wage jobs all the time and he should know from being a wage slave at Target.

I thought Marshall worked at Courthouse Market? Am I wrong?

I know you're mad at Peter, but you need to think about the issues, not just your own ego. Virginia is against marriage equality. Peter is for letting people who are in love get married.

And what about LNG? Peter was one of the strongest opponents of LNG.

You and Peter agree on almost every issue except for his endorsement of Bonnie. Go ahead and stay mad at him about that - he deserves it - but don't let that affect your progressive values.

"Virginia and I grew up a few blocks from each other in Myrtletown. She is very local, and represents normal working middle class. She is a working class!"

This is a really ignorant view of class. Just because somebody comes from the working class doesn't mean that they represent the interests of the working class.

Class is not just an identity, it's also - and more importantly - a dynamic. Just because she grew up near you doesn't mean that she represents working people in the class struggle.

You should know this better than anyone. Scabs and stool pigeons are also members of the working class, but they've sold out to the boss.

Virginia sold out to boss Arkley and his Republican cohorts a long time ago.

When O.H. Bass was young, he applied to the meat cutters union to become an apprentice in the meat cutting trade. Unions in those days were well-respected and strong.

At some point after O.H. completed his apprenticeship and became a union meat cutter, he gave up "Solidarity Forever"and switched his loyalty to the local "ruling class." He ran for Humboldt County Supervisor, won, and for years he tormented the local unions including the County employees union.

But back in the early days, when it benefited him to join a union, unions were just all right with him.
